Beginner's Guide to Full Impact Pro

Since its inception in 2003 as a sister promotion to Ring Of Honor, Full Impact Pro (FIP) has gone through a host of changes. One thing has remained the same through it all: FIP has been a home to some of the top stars in independent wrestling.

This Sunday, FIP relaunches with a decidedly "adult" makeover. While head booker Gabe Sapolski has not detailed what he means by saying the show will not be "family friendly," he has reiterated several times the show is not meant for kids.

Sunday's event, FIP: Everything Burns 2017, takes place at The Ivy Astoria Event Center in Tampa, Florida, at 8 PM ET. Your FloSlam subscription gets you access to the live event stream and the replay shortly after the event ends. In addition, this weekend's FloSlam schedule features Style Battle's debut on Saturday night.

FIP served as ROH's sister promotion until 2009, meaning a lot of marquee talent crossed over during a massive time in ROH's history. The first FIP World Heavyweight Championship match was a tournament final between Homicide and CM Punk. Homicide won the title, which would go on to be held by men such as Bryan Danielson, Roderick Strong, Tyler Black (Seth Rollins), Davey Richards, Jon Moxley (Dean Ambrose), and Rich Swann.

The current FIP champ is Fred Yehi, who is also one half of the EVOLVE tag team champions. He captured the title with a win over Caleb Konley at the 2016 Accelerate event. FloPro members can watch the event and Yehi's title win here.

The promotion's other singles title is the FIP Florida Heritage Championship. Martin Stone, a former member of the WWE NXT roster, is the current titleholder. He captured the belt with a win over Donovan Danhausen at the 2016 ACW Tradition Continues event.

The FIP World Tag Team Championships have been held by The Hooligans (Devin and Mason Cutter) since Aug. 7, 2015. The big, roughhousing -- but surprisingly athletic -- boys in overalls and bare feet have held on to their titles very tightly for over a year and a half.

Everything Burns 2017 kicks off with a Get The Contract Fight For All match. The bout will include AR Fox, Sami Callihan, Jason Cade, Dave Crist, Darby Allin, Jason Kincaid, Dezmond Xavier, Teddy Stigma, Anthony Henry, Sammy Guevara, and Austin Theory, though FIP has kept quiet on the rules of the bout. FIP has, however, said the bout has the potential to be a car wreck. The winner will face Yehi in the main event.

The rest of the card will shape up based on the way the opening match plays out.

Your $20 a month FloPro subscription gets you access to FIP: Everything Burns 2017 and Style Battle this weekend as well as future live events, event repays and our ever-growing catalog of archived events.
