Style Battle Adds Fray, Matches Added To EVOLVE 76 And 77

WWN has made updates to several upcoming cards, including Saturday's Style Battle debut, Sunday's FIP re-launch and the EVOLVE 76 and 77 shows scheduled for Royal Rumble weekend.

Style Battle, a promotion based around one-night, eight-man tournaments, will also feature a Fray Match. Fray will work similarly to the WWE's Royal Rumble. Two competitors will start the match with another joining the match every minute. Instead of eliminations coming by throwing opponents over the top rope, a wrestler will be eliminated when he is pinned, forced to submit or knocked out. The last man standing will be the winner. The match will include non-tournament participants.

The first round matchups for the event have not changed. They include:

  • Darby Allin vs. Dave Crist
  • Dezmond Xavier vs. Sammy Guevara
  • Fred Yehi vs. Anthony Henry
  • AR Fox vs. Austin Theory
Make sure to check out our two-part preview of the tournament (Part 1Part 2).

While much is still unknown about FIP's re-launch on Sunday, WWN made it clear that this adult-oriented show will feature no rules. Make sure to catch up on the promotion with our Beginner's Guide To FIP.

Your FloSlam subscription gets you access to both live streams and replays of the events. And if you aren't subscribed already, $20 gets you access to this event plus every other live event on our calendar AND our library of past pro wrestling cards.

Included in that subscription are EVOLVE 76 and 77, which take place Jan. 27 and 28, respectively. Both events will be held in San Antonio, Texas, the same city that hosts WWE's Royal Rumble on Jan. 29.

As previously reported, Jeff Cobb agreed to team with EVOLVE champion Timothy Thatcher at EVOLVE 76 to challenge Catch Point's Fred Yehi and "Hot Sauce" Tracy Williams for the tag team titles. In return, Cobb will get a shot at Thatcher's championship the following night at EVOLVE 77.

Also previously reported was Chris Hero's bout with Zack Sabre Jr. at EVOLVE 77. After Hero returned to WWE developmental promotion NXT under the name Kassius Ohno -- the same name he used in NXT years prior -- it was announced EVOLVE will allow him to choose his own opponent at EVOLVE 76. "Hero told us he wants to pick someone who can carry independent wrestling into the future," the WWN press release stated.

Sabre will face off with Ethan Page at EVOLVE 76. The two met at EVOLVE 74 with Page shocking the independent wrestling world by picking up a clean pinfall victory over Sabre. The world's best technical wrestler will have his chance to get his revenge on "All Ego" one night before stepping in the ring for Hero's farewell bout.

Also added to EVOLVE 76 is a bout between former EVOLVE tag team champ DUSTIN and breakout prospect Jason Kincaid.

Finally, AAA and WWE veteran Laredo Kid will make his promotional debut at EVOLVE 77.

Remember, you can catch all the action discussed here -- as well as an ever-growing library of past events -- with a FloPro subscription.
